Incredible Reason: Cause of illness In the first century, there was no word for medical care. People did not know the existence of bacteria nor viruses. They did not realize mental illness, as well. As they did not have scientific information, they could not treat diseases. It seems unbelievable now, but the Devil and demons were causes of illness. Everyone thought that the sick are obsessed with evil spirits. According to the Gospel by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, people were obsessed with evil spirits. Jesus blamed the Devil and demon for the cause of illness. There are many expressions of evil spirits with Satan and the Devil. What is an evil spirit? It is the cause of the disease that transfers to people. The evil spirit was able to talk to Jesus. There are also records that demons went into the flock of pigs and fell off the cliff. The reputation of miracles by Jesus for healing sick people has spread throughout Syria and throughout Galilee. All those suffering from various diseases, epilepsy or paralyzed, were brought to him. Miracles by Jesus healed every disease and every illness. It was people's common sense that the cause was the work of demons. Those who follow Jesus Christ keep his teachings and believe that the cause of the illness is evil spirits. It was the fundamental teaching of Jesus and his response and actions. There is a severe problem in accepting the idea of Jesus as truth. If you check the online encyclopedia about illness, you will see a detailed explanation of its definition. However, there is no mention of the cause of disease as Devil or demons. The idea is gone as obsolete. It is the cause of the disease, which is not acceptable at present. Medicine of present time has identified causes of illnesses, has found treatments, and has benefited people all over the world. Modern medicine cures many sick people, prolongs their lives, and makes a significant contribution to the human race. Diseases even considered incurable were overcome. Modern medicine has healed an innumerable number of people. That is very different, totally different from that miracles cured the sick people. The recognition was very different from the present recognition because there was neither knowledge nor understanding of medical science. The problem now is that many people still believe that the cause of the illness is evil spirits and believe there is no mistake in the teachings of Jesus. Do you realize that there are ignorance, lack of information, arrogance, and foolishness behind the beliefs? The times request for a change in these ideas and beliefs. There is a grave mistake to believe or to accept the teachings of those days. It is necessary to consider the background of the time carefully. It is an anachronism to think that the cause of the illness is the Devil or evil spirit. There is no doubt that Jesus showed an excellent example as a human being. However, he is one of many who have made a great example in the human race. The teachings of Jesus were 2000 years ago. It was accepted as an excellent new teaching by the people then. However, it is not in line with contemporary perceptions. The reason is simple because they were old and not appropriate anymore. Therefore be careful when you read the Bible. Nothing can stay complete. Everything is changing. Progress means everything is changing. Belief is the cause of many tragedies; massacre, slaughter, religious warfare by the human race. Believing is the same as not being able to think of anything else.
